Disneyland Social Clubs

Ever seen a Disneyland social club? You know those people in denim vests, sometimes covered in tattoos and piercings? Don't let their appearance fool you, they are some of the most genuinely kind and all around awesome people.

Pirates of the Caribbean Custom Painted TOMS shoes

By Dan-O Florez

Todays post will takes us to one my my personal favorite Disney attractions...

The great thing about creating art pieces inspired by Disney Attractions is that there is so much history to draw from.

On occasion I will string together simple GIFs by taking pictures of my progress as I paint.

Thanks to sites like Davelandweb and Google Image search, one can find images readily available to serve as inspiration.
I knew that if I was going to tackle the classic attraction Pirates of the Caribbean I needed to find the most memorable scenes to really evoke and get the feel of the attraction to show up on shoes.

Sometimes the best inspiration comes from original concept art. In this case I referenced Marc Davis' concept artwork for the auction scene.

The part of my skill set that sets me apart from many other custom shoe artists is my ability to focus on such small details and to scale down larger images onto a small space usually no larger than 3 to 4 inches wide by 4-6 inches tall.

This old map that I picked up outside the Magic Kingdoms Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Florida was my inspiration for including a map on the outside panels of the shoes.

Much like my map above, I decided to include a hidden mickey in my map. Have you found it yet?

Referencing elements from both Disney World and Disneyland's versions of "Pirates" was necessary to really have a design that encompassed the feel of the Pirates of the Caribbean experience.

As always if you like what you see and wish to order a pair like this or something similar, please feel free to contact me at my web store www.DanOFlorez.storenvy.com

Disney's 1st couple

I guess you could say this post is about the very first Disney Couple.  If it all started with a mouse, then the first couple has to Mickey and Minnie.

It was the couples 3rd animated appearance in Steamboat Willie (1928) that really shaped their style and personality. Since then the two have shared some very romantic moments.

What is your favorite Mickey and Minnie moment?

Leave a comment below with your favorite Disney couple or Mickey and Minnie moment!

As always if you like what you see featured in my artwork it is available to order in my web store hosted by Storenvy www.DanOFlorez.storenvy.com

Another favorite Disney couple is Lady and the Tramp, and who could forget their romantic spaghetti dinner at Tony's.  Here is the progress and final product shots of on of my favorite pairs of Disney TOMS that I've painted for a great client.

First I laid down the basics for Tramp

Added a few more details to his scenery

And now we start to see the basics of Lady being put down.

Now she has a few more facial features

Added some more details on the table and some lighting to the painting.

Final product and promo shots

Let me know what you think in the comments below.
And as always if you see something you can't live without, I can reproduce any designs and they can be ordered in my shop
So, all this month over on
Google+ I've been posting different Disney couples painted on TOMS shoes and have been getting a great response from the Disney Fans communities. So to keep in the romantic spirit of my other posts. Here is another great Disney couple Milo and Kida from Disney's Atlantis

Can anyone translate the Atlantean message on the sides?
If you like what you see, you can order a pair in my Store

Below are some photos taken while painting this pair.

If you like seeing the process of how the designs come together, be sure to leave a comment below. Thanks
